Frequently asked questions
The application processes differ significantly. In the US, applicants apply to each university individually, often submit multiple essays or statements of purpose, and typically need GRE or GMAT scores along with 2 to 3 letters of recommendation. In the UK, applications are submitted through the UCAS system for up to five universities using a single personal statement, standardized test scores are less emphasized, and usually only 1 to 2 recommendation letters are required. Deadlines also differ: US programs set their own deadlines well in advance, while UK programs often share a single deadline closer to the start of term. Prepory coaches are experienced with both systems and help applicants navigate the specific requirements of each.
Ideally, one year before your intended application cycle. Starting early gives you time to strategically strengthen your profile, identify the right programs, and develop polished written materials without the pressure of approaching deadlines. Applicants who begin closer to submission can still benefit significantly, particularly with statement of purpose development, program selection, and interview preparation.
