Frequently asked questions
for 11th graders

Yes. 11th grade is the most critical year in the college admissions process, and having a coach at this stage makes a significant difference. Juniors need to simultaneously manage SAT/ACT prep, finalize their college list, refine their extracurricular narrative, select courses that demonstrate rigor, and begin working on application essays. A Prepory coach ensures every piece of the application is aligned and that no high-stakes deadline is missed.

Prepory is not an SAT/ACT tutoring service, but coaches help students decide which exam is the better fit, set score targets based on their college list, and build a study timeline that works alongside their other commitments. Through partnerships with leading test prep companies, Prepory students also have access to exclusive discounted rates for dedicated tutoring support.

The summer before senior year is one of the last high-impact opportunities to strengthen a college application before deadlines arrive. Prepory coaches help students identify summer programs, internships, or independent projects that align with their intended major and application narrative, and guide them through the application process for those opportunities. Arriving at senior year with a purposeful summer behind you is a meaningful advantage.

In rare cases, students can apply to certain programs such as dual enrollment or early college admission during 11th grade, but this is not the norm. For most juniors, the focus should be on building the strongest possible application profile: GPA, test scores, extracurricular depth, and essay development. Prepory coaches help students make the most of junior year so they enter senior year's application cycle in the strongest position possible.

One-on-one advising at Prepory consists of 60-minute Zoom sessions between the student and their assigned college admissions coach. In 11th grade, sessions follow structured program milestones covering college list development, test prep strategy, extracurricular positioning, summer planning, and early essay work. Students also receive unlimited essay reviews from Prepory's Writing Specialists and can track progress through MyPrepory.

Prepory's team brings over 400 years of collective admissions experience and includes former admissions officers, Ivy League writing coaches, and graduates from the nation's most selective universities. Students are matched with a coach based on their availability, academic interests, and the coach's area of expertise. Schedule a free consultation to learn more.
