Thousands of families trust Prepory

From the initial contact with the Prepory team, to one-on-one meetings, and through-out the entire process; not only were we beyond satisfied with the support team, but especially with Juliette, who became our son's Mentor and Coach. Juliette provided phenomenal context through-out the process. She challenged our son to expand his thinking, his perceptions of his world (which already existed) and how those can shift and adapt to take in new experiences and education. What an amazing journey! Thank you Juliette and the Prepory Team!!

Prepory helped our daughter navigate the strenuous application process by breaking it down into manageable tasks, on a set timeline, in order to make it to the finish line - without last minute cramming!

Daughter admitted to Dartmouth

I know that without the guidance, support, and knowledge offered by Prepory, I wouldn’t have had the confidence or know-how to navigate the college admissions process and get to where I am now. Prepory changed my life.

Anthony O.
Admitted to Harvard University

I would have left a similar rating even if my son had not got into several top schools. In terms of this, Bruno, my son's coach, worked with him to ensure that no matter what the outcome, he had done all he could to put himself in the best position. The fact that Bruno recognized what message my son wanted to convey and did not put his own spin into the process, meant a lot to our family. We understand that results matter, and we achieved that, but it was not at the expense of anything that was important to my son.

Why college admissions are so competitive for Northern Virginia students

Northern Virginia students come from academically competitive high schools, including magnet programs, STEM academies, and top Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington County schools. Because strong grades and advanced coursework are standard, admissions success depends on a student’s ability to meaningfully distinguish themselves from their peers.

Prepory’s Committee Review mirrors how admissions committees evaluate applications. A student’s full application is reviewed by multiple experienced professionals to identify what stands out, what blends in, and where the application can be strengthened.

How are NYC magnet school students evaluated in college admissions?

Admissions officers are very familiar with the rigor of NYC magnet schools and expect applicants to present strong grades and extracurricular involvement. Applicants are often compared to their high-achieving peers, making it critical that students can clearly differentiate themselves in their applications.

Frequently asked questions from Northern Virginia families

Getting into UVA from Northern Virginia is genuinely competitive because the university draws the majority of its admitted class from in-state applicants, and NoVA produces a high concentration of well-qualified candidates applying from the same academic environment. Virginia residents benefit from in-state preference, but that preference does not eliminate competition among in-state applicants themselves, and students from Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington County schools are still evaluated against a strong peer group where strong grades and test scores are the baseline rather than the differentiator.

UVA and William and Mary both maintain significant in-state preference as public universities with a mandate to serve Virginia residents, and historically around two-thirds or more of admitted students at each school are from in-state. That preference improves the odds for Virginia applicants relative to out-of-state applicants, but it does not make admission straightforward, particularly for students from Northern Virginia's most competitive high schools where the density of strong applicants means the in-state pool itself is quite compressed.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is one of the most academically rigorous high schools in the country, and admissions officers at selective colleges are familiar with its curriculum and competitive environment, which means a strong performance there carries real weight. The challenge is that TJ sends a concentrated group of highly credentialed applicants to the same schools every year, and students who stand out are typically those who have developed a clear identity beyond their academic record rather than those whose application looks like a representative profile from the school.

We serve students across Northern Virginia, including Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, McLean, Vienna, Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, and Leesburg, as well as communities throughout Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties. Because our program is hosted entirely online, we are able to work with any student in the region regardless of where they are located.

We have worked with students from a wide range of high schools across Northern Virginia, including Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, BASIS Independent McLean, Flint Hill High School, Oakton High School, Robinson Secondary School, Washington Liberty High School, West Springfield High School, Westfield High School, Yorktown High School, Briar Woods High School and the Academies of Loudoun, Academy of Science at Rock Ridge, Bishop O'Connell High School, and Dominion High School. If your student's school is not on this list, our program is designed to support any student in Northern Virginia, and our team is equipped to provide guidance that reflects your student's specific school environment and goals.
